Iran’s embassy in Japan accused the US of undermining a memorandum of understanding signed with Tehran less than three weeks ago, citing alleged breaches related to shipping, sanctions, and military operations.
In a statement on X, the embassy said Washington was “actively seeking to undermine” the agreement by imposing what it described as a parallel shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, claiming this weakened provisions related to the safe passage of commercial vessels.
The embassy also accused the US of bypassing parts of the agreement in Lebanon by using a separate peace process to push for the disarmament of Hezbollah, which it said undermined ceasefire guarantees.
It further claimed that the US decision to revoke oil export waivers for Iran violated the agreement and that renewed US military operations against Iran breached its terms.
“Iran’s patience with US actions was already running thin,” the embassy said, warning that Washington was “significantly miscalculating” and that geopolitical leverage was not a one-sided advantage.
