  • The head of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza says the body is prepared to assume its responsibilities once the necessary conditions are in place.
  • The remarks follow the announcement that Gaza's Government Emergency Committee will dissolve and transfer administrative authority.

Ali Shaath, head of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, said the committee is fully prepared to carry out its national responsibilities once the necessary resources and operational conditions are made available.

Shaath said the committee stands ready to begin its work as part of the post-war administrative transition in the Gaza Strip.

The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza is a temporary governing body authorized under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 to oversee day-to-day civil services and public administration in Gaza following the war.

The committee is appointed by and accountable to the Gaza Peace Council.

Shaath's remarks came after Gaza's Government Emergency Committee announced it would dissolve and transfer its administrative responsibilities to the National Committee.

The move is intended to facilitate the transition to the new administrative framework established for governing the Gaza Strip during the post-war period.
