- Saudi-led coalition dismissed recent Houthi threats against Saudi Arabia.
- Coalition spokesman accused Houthis of rejecting peace roadmap accepted by Yemen's government.
- He condemned Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
The "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen" issued a sharp rebuke on Saturday regarding recent hostile statements made by the Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia.
The Coalition characterized the rhetoric as a calculated attempt to distract from severe internal violations and mounting socio-economic pressure inside Yemen.
Major General Turki al-Malki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition, stated that the Houthi claims are intended to export internal economic struggles and shift attention away from growing tribal and social opposition within territory under Houthi control toward neighboring regional states.
Rejection of peace
Al-Malki emphasized that the latest escalation is an extension of hostile Houthi behavior aimed at undermining both regional and international security.
He highlighted that while Saudi Arabia, the Coalition, and international partners have initiated multiple humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni population, the political track remains stalled due to Houthi non-compliance.
According to the spokesperson, the internationally recognized Yemeni government previously accepted a comprehensive peace roadmap designed to resolve the crisis, which the Houthi leadership rejected.
Furthermore, the Coalition stated that the Houthi movement went beyond rejecting permanent peace solutions by actively striking global trade routes and maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait.
Al-Malki noted that these actions directly expose critical Yemeni economic infrastructure -including the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Issa, alongside Sanaa International Airport, power stations, and manufacturing plants- to comprehensive destruction and targeting.
"Unprecedented response"
Concluding the official statement, Major General al-Malki delivered a strict warning regarding potential cross-border escalation.
He affirmed that the Coalition is prepared to implement defensive measures if security parameters are breached.
The spokesperson emphasized that the Coalition will respond and strike with absolute firmness and unprecedented force to neutralize any attempts to target Saudi Arabia, its citizens, or its national assets.
He added that any actions violating the sovereignty of Yemen would be met with an equal response, conducted in strict conformity with customary rules of international humanitarian law.
