‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar have ordered the deployment of a joint ‘Israeli’ delegation to Venezuela to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster response support following devastating earthquakes that struck the South American nation.

The powerful 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes hit northern Venezuela, causing widespread destruction, particularly in areas like La Guaira.

The death toll -until now- has risen dramatically to over 1,700, with thousands more injured and tens of thousands reported missing or displaced.

The ‘Israeli’ delegation will include engineers and experts from the Home Front Command, led by Brig. Gen. Elad Edri, Chief of Staff of the Home Front Command. Ambassador Yoed Magen, who grew up in Venezuela, will lead the Foreign Ministry’s component.

‘Israel’s’ decision comes despite the absence of formal diplomatic relations with Venezuela for nearly two decades and no ‘Israeli’ embassy in Caracas.
