  • Kaushambi police arrest 3 Muslim women after a tip-off over alleged beef cooking.

Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, India, have arrested three muslim women after raiding a home on allegations that beef was being cooked.

According to police, the action followed a tip-off that a family in the area had brought beef into their home and was preparing it for consumption. A police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Abhishek Singh, subsequently conducted a raid at the identified residence after what they described as verification of the information.

Police said that on seeing the raiding team, several men allegedly fled the scene through nearby lanes, while the women present in the house attempted to escape but were detained by female officers.

During the search, officers recovered approximately one kilogram of cooked meat stored in a container and about one kilogram of raw meat in a plastic bag, police said.

“We have arrested the three women. During questioning, they said the meat was beef brought by their family members from outside,” DSP Abhishek Singh told reporters.

The arrested women, all in their 30s, have been booked under provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act at Sarai Akil police station. They were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, police added.

Authorities said efforts are underway to locate the women’s husbands and another male relative who allegedly fled during the raid. Police said the men are employed in Mumbai and had recently returned to the district.

Officials confirmed that the seized meat samples have been sent to a forensic laboratory for examination, and results are awaited to determine the nature of the meat.

Investigators said the probe will also examine the source of the meat and whether similar incidents had occurred previously.
