Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Sunday morning that it had launched strikes targeting Kuwait and Bahrain in response to US attacks on Iranian territory, warning that any further American aggression would be met with a "crushing response."

In a statement, the IRGC said it had targeted "eight sites and key infrastructure belonging to the US military at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the U.S. Fifth Fleet at Salman Port in Bahrain," claiming that the sites had been destroyed.

The statement added that "any new act of aggression under any pretext, even if directed at insignificant targets, will be met with a crushing response."

Iran and the United States have exchanged accusations of violating the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries last week.

The memorandum stipulates that Iran is to take the necessary measures to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC said the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding stipulates that responsibility for monitoring and regulating navigation through the Strait of Hormuz lies with the Islamic Republic," adding that "violating vessels will be dealt with more firmly than before."

On Thursday, the IRGC warned that any transit through the strategic waterway would require prior authorization from Iran and adherence to the designated shipping route, vowing to take "appropriate measures" against vessels that violate those requirements.
