Day 120 | US strikes Iran targets after attack on cargo ship
US forces struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar locations on Friday in response to what it said was an Iranian attack on a cargo ship, the US military said.
"The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire," US Central Command said on X, describing the strikes as "a powerful response to yesterday's attack on a commercial ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz."
Iranian media retracts IRGC statement warning of response to US strikes
Iranian media has retracted a previous statement issued by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which -at the time- warned of a “swift and decisive response” to recent US strikes on Iranian targets.
“The Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) indicates that statements attributed to the IRGC regarding a confrontation with the United States in recent hours are fake,” Fars News Agency said in a report.
“IRGC public relations officials say that none of them were issued by the IRGC,” it added.
