Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, southern ‘Israel’s’ largest hospital and primary healthcare provider in the Negev region, is progressing with significant reconstruction efforts.

This follows a direct hit by an Iranian ballistic missile on June 19, 2025, part of the 12-day ‘Israel’-Iran conflict.

The missile struck the Northern Surgical Inpatient Building, the hospital’s original structure dating to 1959, causing extensive damage to the facility, nearby infrastructure, eight operating rooms, and six research laboratories.

Hebrew media said that repairs to infrastructure, windows, and equipment enabled most operations to resume, with the Internal Medicine Building approaching full capacity following renovations.

One year later, renovation and fortification work on the affected Northern Operating Room Complex is underway, with reopening anticipated by the end of 2026.

The eastern section of the damaged inpatient building was demolished in March 2026, and planning for the western section’s reconstruction is complete. Additional protected operating rooms are being constructed elsewhere on the campus.

‘Israeli’ authorities, in coordination with Clalit Health Services, have committed substantial resources to the recovery after the Iranian missile strike.

In November 2025, the government announced over NIS 1 billion (approximately $307 million) in combined public and private funding.
