‘Israel’ kills three, including photojournalist, in Gaza

Three Palestinians were killed and several others sustained varying injuries on Saturday evening following an 'Israeli' airstrike on the Al-Bureij refugee camp, located in the central Gaza Strip.

The bombardment directly targeted a residential home within the densely populated camp, adding to the mounting toll of media workers and civilians killed in the ongoing conflict.

Local medical sources confirmed that emergency teams rushed to the scene to retrieve the casualties and transport the wounded to nearby healthcare facilities.

Among those killed in the targeted strike was Ahmad Samir Wishah, a well-known photojournalist working for Al Jazeera Mubasher.

The attack also claimed the lives of two other citizens present at the site, identified as Seba'ei Abu Hasna and Abdul Rahman Abu Gharqoud.

The killing of Wishah has sparked renewed grief and condemnation within the Palestinian press corps, highlighting the extreme dangers faced by media personnel documenting the situation on the ground in central Gaza.

Wishah family targeted twice

The tragedy marks the second time the Wishah family has lost a prominent journalist to 'Israeli' bombardments in recent months. Ahmad Wishah is the brother of the late journalist Mohammad Wishah, a prominent on-air correspondent for Al Jazeera Mubasher.

Mohammad Wishah was killed this past April when an 'Israeli' airstrike targeted his vehicle while he was traveling along the coastal Al-Rashid Street, southwest of Gaza City.

Local press freedom organizations have reiterated their calls for the protection of journalists, noting that family members of media professionals continue to bear a disproportionate and devastating cost.
