  • Jordan condemned the burning of two mosques in the occupied West Bank, holding 'Israel' responsible for settler attacks and calling for international accountability.

Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday condemned what it described as escalating 'Israeli' settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including the burning of the Grand Mosque in the village of Jiljilya and Al-Farouq Mosque in the village of Mazari' al-Nubani, north of Ramallah.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fuad Majali reaffirmed Jordan's absolute rejection of the attacks, describing them as an extension of the policies of 'Israel's' "extremist government" amid what he said were ongoing illegal 'Israeli' measures in the occupied West Bank and statements by 'Israeli' officials that fuel extremism and violence against the Palestinian people.

Majali held 'Israel', as the occupying power, responsible for the attacks and their consequences.

He called on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling 'Israel' to halt what he described as a dangerous escalation and settler assaults, and to ensure accountability for those responsible.

Majali also reiterated Jordan's support for the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, describing it as the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region.
