  • A senior Iranian official says Washington agreed to release part of Iran’s frozen funds.
  • US Vice President JD Vance denied that any money would be released simply for signing a deal.

A senior Iranian official has claimed that the United States has agreed to release part of Iran’s frozen assets as negotiations between Washington and Tehran move closer to a potential agreement.

Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, said US President Donald Trump had agreed to the release of some Iranian funds but was unwilling to announce the move publicly, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency.

The claim comes despite repeated denials from US officials. Vice President JD Vance said reports suggesting Iran would receive financial benefits before meeting its commitments were inaccurate.

“The Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting,” Vance wrote on X.

Reports have suggested Iran is seeking the release of frozen funds in stages as part of a potential agreement, while US officials remain wary of easing financial pressure before Tehran fulfills its obligations.
