An officer in the 'Israeli' police force has been arrested on suspicion of raping and unlawfully imprisoning a fellow police officer who was previously his partner, according to a report by the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

The report said the Department for the Investigation of Police Officers (Mahash) detained the suspect last Thursday following a complaint filed by a policewoman serving in the same force.

A magistrate's court in Beersheba later extended the officer's detention until Sunday to allow investigators to continue their inquiry.

Complaint details alleged assault

According to preliminary details cited by the newspaper, the alleged incident took place last Sunday.

The complainant told investigators that she arrived at her former partner's apartment while on official duty. In her statement, she alleged that the suspect threatened her, locked the apartment doors, and prevented her from leaving.

She further claimed that he forcibly held her inside the residence and raped her.

The allegations remain under investigation and have not been proven in court.

Suspect denies allegations

The officer has denied all accusations through his legal representative.

During court proceedings, the defense attorney argued that the complaint was fabricated and motivated by personal reasons. The lawyer described the complainant's behavior toward his client as "obsessive" and alleged that key details had been omitted from her account.

According to the defense, the complainant made numerous phone calls to the suspect before arriving at his residence. The attorney further claimed that the two initially met outside the residential building before going to the apartment together at the complainant's request.

The defense maintained that the complainant wanted to determine whether the suspect was involved with other women and argued that the circumstances surrounding the meeting differed significantly from those described in the complaint.
