MC Alger brought down the curtain on a legendary 2025–26 Ligue 1 Mobilis campaign on Friday night, defeating ASO Chlef 2-0 before hoisting the league shield for a third consecutive season and a historic 10th time in the club's storied history.
The final whistle at the packed Ali-Ammar Stadium triggered an outpouring of pure euphoria, as thousands of supporters bore witness to a milestone that cements the "Dean of Algerian clubs" at the absolute pinnacle of domestic football.
Controlled finale on pitch
While the match itself did not quite reach the feverish technical heights expected of a grand finale, the champions remained firmly in the driver's seat.
MC Alger dominated possession and dictated the rhythm of the game from the opening whistle. ASO Chlef opted for a deeply cautious, heavily defensive structure, offering very little threat on the counter.
The breakthrough to seal the perfect script came late in the second half.
Striker Bayazid, who had been honored before kickoff for reaching a milestone 100 appearances for the club, came off the bench to score a decisive second goal in the 88th minute.
The late strike effectively put the contest to bed, ensuring the night ended on a winning note.
Alongside Bayazid, star midfielder Benkhemassa also received a roaring ovation after being individually named the club's Player of the Season.
Podium of legends, statesmen
Once the match concluded, the pitch transformed into a stage of immense prestige. In a deeply symbolic gesture that bridged generations, iconic former club figures Bachi, Betrouni, and Zenir marched onto the field carrying the championship shield to its pedestal.
The high-profile nature of MC Alger's historic triple-championship drew some of the country's top dignitaries.
Minister of Sports Walid Sadi, alongside Kamel Sidi Said (Adviser to the President of the Republic), Algerian Football League president Mohamed El Amine Mesloug, and MCA president Hadj Redjem all took part in the official ceremony.
The defining moment arrived when team captain Ayoub Abdellaoui stepped forward.
Surrounded by his ecstatic teammates, the veteran defender hoisted the shield into the sky, triggering an explosion of confetti, cheers, and stadium flares.
Capital burns bright
While the players celebrated on the pitch, the true heartbeat of the night belonged to the stands.
Long after the stadium lights dimmed, the party spilled out into the streets of Algiers.
Thousands of fans began a historic victory march from the Ali-Ammar Stadium toward the club’s spiritual heartland of Bab El Oued, passing through iconic local landmarks.

Columns of red and green smoke, synchronized chanting, and massive firework displays illuminated the capital's skyline throughout the night.
