  • Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds waved and kissed the Palestinian flag during the band’s concert in Milan.
  • The gesture came less than two years after the band faced criticism for performing in Tel Aviv despite boycott calls.

Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds raised and kissed the Palestinian flag during the band’s concert in Milan, Italy, in a gesture of solidarity with Palestinians amid the war on Gaza.

Videos shared online showed Reynolds unfolding a large Palestinian flag near the end of the performance at the Ippodromo venue before waving it in front of thousands of fans. He later walked down the stage catwalk alongside a bandmate while carrying the flag over his shoulders.

The gesture came less than two years after Imagine Dragons defended performing in Tel Aviv despite calls from pro-Palestinian activists and boycott groups to cancel the concert.

Ahead of the band’s 2023 show in ‘Israel’, organizations including Jewish Voice for Peace urged the group not to perform in Tel Aviv. Holocaust survivor and physician Dr. Gabor Maté was also among public figures who called on the band to cancel the concert.

Despite the criticism, Imagine Dragons performed at Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv on August 29, 2023.

In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Reynolds defended the decision, saying artists should not deprive fans of concerts because of the actions of governments.
