Iran’s Fars News Agency quoted informed sources on Friday as saying that recent remarks by US President Donald Trump regarding a possible agreement to end the war were “a mixture of truth and falsehood.”
The sources said the proposed framework had been drafted “in the form of pledge for pledge.”
They added that “Trump claimed Iran would be obligated to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without collecting fees, while the agreement text contains no such clause.” The sources also said the destruction of Iran’s nuclear materials was not included in the text.
The same sources added that “the most important part of the agreement, which Trump did not mention, is the condition requiring the immediate payment of $12 billion from frozen Iranian assets.” According to the agreement text, the amount must be paid immediately, and unless the payment is made, Iran will not enter any further phase of negotiations, they said, stressing “an approach based on complete distrust of America.”
Regarding the Lebanese front, the sources reaffirmed “a complete ceasefire in Lebanon in line with Hezbollah’s position,” warning that “in the event of any breach of the pledge,” an “immediate countermeasure” would be taken.
Earlier, Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social that he was preparing to make a “final decision” regarding a possible understanding with Iran. He added that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened “immediately” and that enriched uranium should be “destroyed.”
