According to the ministry, 'Israeli' troops used direct military force to carry out the evacuation operation inside the mosque compound, removing all individuals present before sealing the site “until further notice.” The ministry said no political or security justification was provided for the closure, and no timeframe was given for reopening the mosque.

The Palestinian ministry strongly condemned what it described as a “serious assault” on Islamic holy sites, calling on international organizations and human rights groups to urgently intervene to stop such measures and ensure the reopening of the mosque for worshippers without restrictions or conditions.

Diplomatic and media teams are reportedly following developments surrounding the sudden closure, which has prevented Palestinians from performing religious rituals at the site.

The latest incident has intensified concerns over the status of religious sites in the occupied West Bank, with religious officials warning that the removal of mosque custodians and guards could alter the historical and administrative status quo inside the Ibrahimi Mosque compound.
