Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, posted a video on social media platform X showing himself handling two southern black racer snakes with his bare hands.

The incident occurred on the patio of Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, at his beachfront residence in Florida.

In the footage, Kennedy approaches two snakes sunning themselves, grasps them, and holds them up for the camera as they thrash and coil.

Kennedy's wife, actress Cheryl Hines, is heard in the background expressing concern and urging him to release the snakes, repeatedly asking, "Bobby, why?" or "Honey, let them go!" One snake appears to nip at Kennedy's hand during the encounter.

Southern black racers are common, non-venomous snakes native to Florida. According to wildlife experts, they are generally harmless to humans and pets but may bite defensively when handled.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has advised caution around snakes during their active spring season.

The video quickly went viral, eliciting a range of reactions from amusement and admiration for Kennedy's boldness to criticism regarding the potential risks and encouragement of unsafe wildlife interaction.
