  • Iran downs “stealth” drone over Persian Gulf.
  • Upgraded Arash systems used in interception.
  • Tehran warns stealth aircraft can’t evade detection.
  • Technical details of operation remain classified.

Disclosing the cause behind unannounced military activity over the weekend, defense officials confirmed that Iranian air defense forces successfully tracked and shot down a hostile adversary drone operating over the strategic waters of the Persian Gulf.

The announcement directly clarifies breaking reports from Monday afternoon, when local residents on Qeshm Island reported hearing the heavy, unexplained activation of anti-aircraft batteries near the critical maritime chokepoint.

While local authorities initially withheld comment on the nature of the engagement, official statements have now verified that a live engagement took place against an incoming intrusion.

According to state media, the interception was executed by the "Arash" system -traditionally known in Iranian lore as Arash-e Kamangir- equipped with newly integrated, highly advanced operational upgrades.

Military units deployed a variant featuring specialized capabilities specifically designed to neutralize low-observable, stealth targets.

The operation relied on electronic warfare and tracking platforms that allow the network to operate dynamically.

While the defense establishment noted that the engagement proved their ability to isolate complex targets, the precise technical specifications, frequencies, and operational blueprints of the upgraded system have been placed under strict security classification.

Persian Gulf airspace warning

The high-altitude interception is being characterized by Tehran as an intentional demonstration of deterrence, aimed at securing the country's sovereign air boundaries amid ongoing regional frictions.

Defense officials stated that the successful downing of the aircraft sends an unambiguous message regarding the shifting parameters of maritime surveillance.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that the operation re-establishes Iran's absolute sovereignty and complete defensive control over the airspace encompassing the Strait of Hormuz, demonstrating that its localized radar and interception units stand fully prepared to respond decisively to any future airborne breaches.
