  • Hamas official Osama Hamdan said ‘Israel’ aims to deny Palestinians any future in Gaza, not only maintain occupation.
  • He rejected calls for Hamas to disarm, warning of continued resistance if pressure on Palestinians persists.

Senior Hamas figure Osama Hamdan has said that ‘Israel’s’ military campaign in Gaza goes beyond occupation and is intended to eliminate any future Palestinian presence in the territory.

Speaking to the online outlet Drop Site News, Hamdan said the war is sending what he described as a deliberate message to Palestinians.

“The aim is to end the Palestinian presence in the Gaza Strip, not merely occupation,” he said. “They are trying to send a message to the Palestinians that there is no solution within Palestine, and that the only solution is for them to leave.”

Hamdan rejected demands that Hamas disarm under current conditions, arguing that armed resistance remains central to the Palestinian cause.

“No rational person would accept moving from a condition of freedom, even if it involves suffering and death, into a condition of slavery and humiliation,” he said, adding that resistance is “the best protection for the Palestinian cause.”

He also warned that continued pressure on Palestinians could lead to renewed escalation.

“If it comes down to a situation of ‘the sea behind you and the enemy in front of you’, they will fight, not only Hamas, but Palestinians in general will fight,” he said.
