  • Haaretz reports that the ICC has issued secret arrest warrants against several 'Israeli' politicians and military officials, citing a diplomatic source.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has reportedly issued secret arrest warrants against several 'Israeli' officials, according to a report published by Haaretz on Sunday, citing a diplomatic source.

The report said the warrants target three 'Israeli' politicians and two military officials, though it remains unclear when the warrants were issued or which individuals are involved.

The reported warrants would add to the publicly known ICC arrest warrants issued in November 2024 against 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes linked to the genocide in Gaza.

International law expert Prof. Eliav Lieblich told Haaretz that the ICC is not obligated to publicly disclose arrest warrants. He said secrecy may increase the chances of suspects traveling to countries where they could potentially be detained.

“The considerations for making the warrants public, as was done in the cases of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Netanyahu, and Gallant, are deterrence,” Lieblich said. “The considerations for secrecy are increasing the chances that the person will arrive somewhere where they can be arrested.”

The report comes amid growing international legal scrutiny surrounding the Gaza war and ongoing investigations by the ICC into actions by both 'Israeli' officials and Hamas leaders.
