The 'Israel’ military said Tuesday it had carried out a multi-day military operation near the Litani River in southern Lebanon, as fighting with Hezbollah continues despite a ceasefire agreement.

In a statement, the military said its forces had conducted a “special operation” over the past week to clear what it described as “terrorist infrastructure” in the Litani area and establish operational control there.

It added that troops operated south of the “yellow line” declared by 'Israel', an area around 10 kilometers north of the border where 'Israel' says its forces remain deployed.

Hebrew media reported that troops advanced beyond the Litani River and reached the outskirts of the town of Eastern Zawtar.

The military did not explicitly confirm whether forces crossed the river, but released images showing soldiers walking on a bridge over a waterway, as well as tanks and troops positioned along the riverbank.

The military said it struck more than 100 targets, claiming to have discovered compounds used by Hezbollah fighters, underground tunnels containing large quantities of weapons, ammunition depots, and rocket launch platforms.

According to the military, dozens of Hezbollah fighters were killed in direct clashes with air support.

The conflict in the Middle East, which escalated following the joint ‘Israeli’-US attack on Iran on February 28, expanded to Lebanon after Hezbollah launched rockets toward 'Israel' on March 2 in response to the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, on the first day of the strikes.

'Israel' responded with extensive airstrikes across Lebanon, in addition to a ground incursion into border areas in the south.

‘Israeli’ attacks on Lebanon have killed around 2,800 people since March 2, including dozens since the ceasefire took effect on April 17, according to Lebanese authorities.

In a separate statement, the ‘Israeli’ military said it had detected an unsuccessful attempt to launch a surface-to-air missile at one of its air force aircraft, with no damage or injuries reported.

Meanwhile, the ‘Israeli’ military Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued new evacuation warnings for several villages in southern Lebanon.
