  • Maersk confirmed the Alliance Fairfax exited the Persian Gulf under US military protection after being unable to leave since February.
  • All crew members were reported safe and unharmed following the coordinated operation with US forces.

Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk confirmed Monday that one of its vessels successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz under US military protection, ending a months-long delay in the Persian Gulf.

The company said the Alliance Fairfax had remained in the region since the outbreak of war in February and was unable to depart due to security conditions. Maersk stressed that all crew members are “safe and unharmed.”

Maersk said it was recently contacted by the US military, which offered an escorted exit route for the vessel.

Following coordination between company leadership and US forces, the ship left the Persian Gulf on Monday “accompanied by US military assets.”

Maersk thanked the US military for what it described as professionalism and effective coordination, adding that it expects the vessel to return to normal commercial operations.

The Alliance Fairfax had been unable to leave the Persian Gulf since the war began in February, highlighting continued disruptions to commercial shipping routes amid regional tensions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints, with heightened military activity affecting navigation and insurance risk for commercial operators.

US Central Command said earlier that two ships transited the strait on Monday under protection operations.

The Alliance Fairfax is part of the US Maritime Security Program, which supports commercial vessels through annual stipends in exchange for availability in military support operations during crises.
