  • President Trump says Iran war talks are ongoing “telephonically,” insisting any deal depends on Tehran agreeing to give up nuclear weapons as negotiations remain deadlocked.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that efforts to end the war with Iran are continuing through “telephonic” negotiations, as diplomatic talks struggle to produce a breakthrough and tensions persist over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the United States is avoiding lengthy in-person travel for negotiations, arguing that discussions can be handled remotely. “We have talks, we’re having talks with them now, and we’re not flying anymore with 18-hour flights every time we want to see a piece of paper,” he said.

“We’re doing it telephonically… I make a call, or I have my people make a call, and you know the answer in 15,” he added, while noting that he still prefers face-to-face meetings.

Trump said logistical burdens of in-person diplomacy make frequent meetings “ridiculous,” but insisted that Iran has “come a long way” in discussions.

Nuclear issue remains central

The president reiterated that any agreement would depend on Iran agreeing to abandon nuclear weapons ambitions. “There will never be a deal unless they agree that there will be no nuclear weapons,” Trump said.

Regional diplomacy and deadlock

Sources say Pakistan could receive a revised Iranian peace proposal by Friday as part of ongoing mediation efforts. However, talks remain stalled amid disagreements over sequencing and nuclear restrictions.

Trump acknowledged the deadlock, saying negotiations have “come a long way” but remain unresolved as the war continues.
