Abbas Goudarzi, spokesman for the presidium of the Iranian parliament has pushed back against recent comments by US President Donald Trump, declaring that the nation stands completely "united against the enemy" amidst the ongoing standoff with the United States and 'Israel'.

The remarks highlight the intense domestic messaging coming out of Tehran as international mediators scramble to finalize a lasting peace agreement and prevent a return to direct military confrontation.

A Rebuttal to Washington

The Iranian parliamentary official, dismissed suggestions of internal division during a statement reported by the state-run IRNA news agency on Monday.

"We have no differences, we are one nation, and our goal is one. Our commonalities far outweigh the differences that exist," Goudarzi asserted.

Goudarzi also highlighted the vital role of the Iranian public during this critical geopolitical juncture. He noted that the people "make the square more vibrant and support the negotiating team and diplomacy," suggesting that domestic resilience will directly influence the outcome of the high-stakes negotiations with the United States.

Trump's Ceasefire Extension

The parliamentary spokesman's strong declaration of unity was a direct response to recent conditions set by Washington.

Last week, US President Donald Trump extended a two-week, Pakistani-brokered ceasefire that initially took effect on April 8. However, when announcing the extension, Trump stated that he would hold off on further military action only until the Iranian leadership could present a "unified" position at the negotiating table.
