  • Head of the Iranian mission in Egypt stated that the US must lift its blockade before further ceasefire talks in Islamabad.
  • He confirmed ongoing communications with Pakistani mediators.
  • He accused the US of utilizing the current ceasefire to build up forces for potential military action.

Mojtaba Ferdousi Pour, the head of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Egypt stated on Wednesday that the United States must end its blockade on Iran as a prerequisite for the continuation of ceasefire talks in Islamabad.

He told The Associated Press that Tehran will not participate in negotiations under current conditions. He confirmed that communications with Pakistani mediators are currently underway "to implement Iran's conditions."

"We won't negotiate under threat," Ferdousi Pour stated. "We won't go to Islamabad before the lifting of the blockade."

The diplomat further accused the US administration of utilizing the current ceasefire period to build up additional military forces, alleging preparations for a possible resumption of military action against the country.

Highlighting a perceived discrepancy in American messaging regarding the negotiations, Ferdousi Pour added, "Behind the scenes, they say something, but in public, they say and do something else."
