Iran's military has announced that an Iranian oil tanker successfully bypassed the ongoing US naval blockade and entered the country's territorial waters, claiming the vessel overcame repeated warnings and threats from American forces.

Escort through the Arabian Sea

According to a statement released by the Iranian army's public relations office and relayed by the Mehr News Agency, the tanker, identified as the Sili City, made the crossing on Monday night.

The military highlighted that the successful transit through the Arabian Sea was made possible by the direct "operational support" of the Iranian Army Navy.

"Despite multiple warnings and threats from the naval task force of the US Army, the Iranian oil tanker Sili City... entered Iranian territorial waters last night," the official statement read.

Safe anchorage

The military statement confirmed that the vessel had safely completed its journey past the US naval perimeter. Authorities noted that the Sili City "has been stationed for several hours at one of the anchorages of the southern ports of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

The reported breach of the blockade adds another layer of complexity to the highly volatile maritime standoff in the region, as commercial shipping routes remain severely disrupted by the ongoing tensions.
