  • Victims aged 18 months to 14 years, multiple survivors injured
  • Suspect killed after police chase following carjacking

At least eight children were killed and several others injured in a mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Sunday, according to local police.

Authorities said the victims ranged in age from 18 months to 14 years. Two women were also shot in the head but survived, while a young boy was injured after reportedly jumping from a roof during the incident.

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith said the suspect was later shot and killed by police after carrying out a carjacking while fleeing the scene.

Police said the violence unfolded in the Cedar Grove neighborhood and involved at least four nearby locations, describing it as a “large and complex scene.” Investigators believe the attack was domestic in nature, though no clear motive has been confirmed.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing as the community in northwestern Louisiana, home to about 187,000 people, grapples with one of its deadliest incidents in recent memory.
