Palestinian detainee Sami Al-Sa’i has released a harrowing testimony detailing severe torture and sexual assault at the hands of ‘Israeli’ prison wardens, issuing an urgent appeal to the international community to hold the occupation and its allies accountable.

Brutal assault and violation

According to his full testimony, Al-Sa'i endured what he described as "indirect sexual assault" by a group of four to six wardens from the ‘Israel’ Prison Service.

The abuse occurred on his very first day at Megiddo Prison, 19 days after his initial arrest.

Vulnerable and unable to defend himself - handcuffed, leg-shackled, and blindfolded - Al-Sa'i stated he was sexually assaulted with objects, including sticks and carrots, alongside a severe physical beating.

He recounted, "I was subjected to sexual assault... accompanied by very harsh and brutal assault, to the point that I expected to pass away at any moment during the violation”, noting that he could only estimate the number of attackers based on their voices due to his blindfold.

A plea for global action

Emphasizing that his solitary voice is not enough to enact change, Al-Sa'i issued a plea to Palestinian organizations and global institutions.

He stressed the critical need for international human rights groups and global allies to champion the cause of Palestinian detainee s.

He urged these bodies to elevate the issue to international forums and pressure the ‘Israeli’ occupation through their respective governments and global influencers.

Condemning US complicity

In his testimony, Al-Sa'i also directed harsh criticism toward the United States, accusing its leadership of direct complicity in the abuse of detainees.

He explicitly condemned both the current Trump and Biden administration, stating that they have actively turned a blind eye to the reality inside the prisons.

Al-Sa'i charged that these US leaders "allowed genocide and allowed torture and sexual assault of Palestinian detainee s," choosing to financially and politically support the occupation despite knowing about the ongoing violations, killings, and torture”.
