- The group said Smotrich's comments undermine the October ceasefire agreement.
- Hamas called on guarantor states and the UN to pressure ‘Israel’ to fully implement the deal and halt settlement expansion.
The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has strongly condemned remarks by 'Israeli' Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich over reported plans to appropriate land in the Gaza Strip for settlement projects.
In a statement, Hamas said the comments reflect what it described as “criminal intentions” by ‘Israel’ aimed at undermining the ceasefire agreement signed in October.
The group warned against what it called continued violations of the truce and attempts to evade its terms.
Hamas urged guarantor states to pressure ‘Israel’ to fully implement the agreement, including a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip according to its phased terms.
It also called on the international community and the United Nations to take urgent action against settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, saying such moves violate international law and UN resolutions.
The statement further called for accountability for 'Israeli' leaders, referring to them as “war criminals,” and said Palestinians would continue to confront such plans through all forms of resistance.
