  • Erdogan formally welcomed the temporary US-Iran ceasefire.
  • He strongly urged all parties not to break or undermine the agreement.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with United States President Donald Trump to discuss recent regional developments, formally welcoming the newly announced temporary ceasefire with Iran and urging international efforts toward a permanent resolution.

Two-week window of opportunity

During the diplomatic call, Erdogan emphasized that the two-week pause in hostilities presents a critical window of opportunity following 40 days of difficult and trying conflict that has impacted the global community.

The Turkish leader stressed that this fragile period must be utilized effectively to secure a lasting peace agreement.

He further warned that the ongoing de-escalation process must be protected and should not be allowed to be undermined by any party.

Turkey pledges continued diplomatic support

Erdogan also underscored Ankara's strong commitment to finding a permanent solution to the regional crisis. He assured the United States president that Turkey will continue to increase its diplomatic support for stabilization efforts.

Furthermore, Erdogan highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation with allied nations, specifically praising the critical mediation role played by Pakistan in helping to negotiate the current truce.
