On Wednesday, the ‘Israeli’ air force launched an unprecedented wave of intense airstrikes across Lebanon, hitting wide areas including central Beirut, its southern suburbs, and towns in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. Preliminary reports indicate a high number of martyrs and injuries.

Beirut and southern suburbs: residential areas targeted

Strikes hit vital and densely populated neighborhoods in Beirut and surrounding areas, including:

  • Beirut: Al-Manara, Ain El-Mreisseh, Corniche Mazraa, Msaytbeh, and Basta
  • Southern Suburbs: Bir Hassan (Al-Rihab), Hay Al-Sellum, and Choueifat
  • Mount Lebanon outskirts: Aramoun (Al-Bayader), Kaifun, Ain El-Tineh, and Bchamoun (school district)

Southern Lebanon: widespread destruction

The south experienced heavy bombardment, destroying large parts of towns, including:

  • Sidon area: Harat Sidon, Sarafand, Bissariyeh, and Zefta
  • Nabatieh area: Kfar Sir, Harouf, Jibshit, Haboush, Almaoura, and Deir Al-Zahrani
  • Iqlim Al-Tuffah: Jibaa, Ain Qana, and Houmine Al-Tahta
  • Tyre and Bint Jbeil districts: Tyre, Jouaiya, Kharbet Selm, and Deir Qanoun Al-Nahr

Bekaa Valley: deeper areas targeted

Strikes also hit the Bekaa Valley, including Douris, Shamshtar, Hermel, Al-Karak, and Tarya plain.

Red Cross: “Situation extremely difficult”

George Kettaneh, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Red Cross, said the number of casualties is high and described the situation on the ground as “extremely difficult.” He added that medical teams are working tirelessly to evacuate the injured to hospitals, which are already overwhelmed.

The escalation comes amid growing concerns over a wider confrontation, with authorities urging residents in targeted areas to exercise maximum caution.
