  • Kate Beckinsale says she was dropped by her talent agent after liking a social media post calling for a Gaza ceasefire, ending a 12-year professional relationship.
  • The termination coincided with family health challenges, and Beckinsale emphasizes the post focused solely on humanitarian concerns for children.

Actress Kate Beckinsale said she was dropped by her talent agent after engaging with a social media post calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, ending a 12-year professional relationship.

Termination after social media interaction

Beckinsale said the post she interacted with focused on humanitarian concerns, including the protection of children. “As un-political as it could possibly be, and asking for mercy for children and babies,” she wrote in comments under an Instagram post shared by Mark Ruffalo. The comments have since been deleted.

“I liked a post about a ceasefire and I got fired on the same day as Susan Sarandon was fired, two days after the end of the strike after nine months of none of us being able to work at all,” Beckinsale said.

She added that the decision was communicated briefly, stating she “was fired in two sentences after 12 years of friendship.”

Timing and personal circumstances

Beckinsale said the termination coincided with family health issues. “I was preparing to fly to England to bring him back so that I could take full care of him,” she wrote, referring to a relative. She added that her agent “definitely knew what I was dealing with, alone.”

Outreach to peers

In the same comments, Beckinsale said she had previously contacted Ruffalo but did not receive a response. “I DM'd you about this months ago but you ignored me,” she wrote, while noting she does not hold him responsible for her dismissal.

The remarks were posted under a video related to Gaza and later removed. The case follows reports of other actors facing professional consequences linked to public statements or social media activity concerning Gaza.
