The Government of Canada has warned its citizens in the Middle East to avoid specific locations deemed at higher risk amid escalating regional tensions.
In a security alert sent to Canadians in Saudi Arabia, authorities advised staying away from areas near potential targets, particularly academic institutions, hotels, financial institutions, and businesses linked to the information and communication technology and artificial intelligence sectors.
Rising threat linked to IRGC statement
The warning follows a statement by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which identified American-linked facilities in these sectors as intended targets for possible drone and missile attacks.
According to the advisory, the attacks are expected to begin on Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 8:00 PM IRST, equivalent to 12:30 PM EDT.
Canadian officials stressed that the security situation “remains volatile” and urged citizens to remain vigilant, limit movement near sensitive sites, and follow official travel advisories.
The embassy also advised Canadians to consider leaving the region if it is safe to do so and while commercial travel options remain available.
