Air traffic at LaGuardia Airport in New York was suspended Monday morning after emergency crews responded to an incident involving an aircraft and a vehicle on the runway, authorities said.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop for all flights at the airport, warning that the suspension could be extended.

The New York City Fire Department confirmed it had responded to a reported incident on Runway 4. Officials did not immediately provide further details about the nature or cause of the collision.

New York City Emergency Management urged travelers to expect flight cancellations, road closures, traffic delays, and a heavy presence of emergency personnel in the Queens area surrounding the airport. Authorities advised using alternative routes whenever possible.

According to the airport’s website, all departing flights were either delayed or canceled Monday morning.

LaGuardia had already been experiencing disruptions due to adverse weather conditions, the airport noted in a post on X on Sunday. Additionally, passengers have been facing longer wait times at security checkpoints because of staffing shortages linked to the federal funding shortfall, officials said last week.

Emergency crews worked to clear the runway, but travelers should continue to monitor flight statuses as disruptions persist.
