  • ‘Israel’ strikes major gas facility in southern Iran with reported US coordination.
  • Explosions hit Bushehr, Asaluyeh sites, raising energy, environmental risks.

‘Israel’ has launched airstrikes on a major gas facility in southern Iran, marking a sharp escalation in attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.

'Israel’s' public broadcaster reported that the strike hit a key installation in Bushehr province, a central hub for Iran’s gas production. A senior 'Israeli' official said the operation was carried out in full coordination with the United States and the administration of President Donald Trump.

Explosions reported in Asaluyeh

Iranian media said powerful explosions were heard in the strategic Asaluyeh refinery area. The Fars News Agency reported direct hits on storage tanks and gas processing facilities, indicating significant damage.

US outlet Axios cited an Israeli official saying the air force targeted a gas processing site to disrupt production capacity at one of the Middle East’s most critical energy centers.

Wider impact expected

'Israeli' newspaper Israel Hayom quoted military sources as saying the strikes are expected to cause widespread damage to energy supplies, both in Iran and across the region.

The report added that US coordination marked a notable shift from previous Washington policies that had discouraged strikes on economic and civilian infrastructure.

Expanding target list

The latest attack follows earlier strikes this month. On March 7, ‘Israeli’ forces targeted fuel tanks in Tehran. Separate joint US-‘Israeli’ strikes reportedly hit aviation fuel depots at Mehrabad Airport, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.

Analysts say the move to target gas fields signals a broader campaign aimed at exerting economic pressure on Tehran.

Health, environmental concerns rise

The escalation has triggered growing environmental and health concerns. The World Health Organization warned earlier this week of “black rain” and toxic compounds spreading in Iran’s atmosphere following repeated strikes on oil facilities.

Iran’s UN envoy Amir Saeid Iravani said attacks on fuel depots in Tehran and other cities have released hazardous pollutants, posing “a serious health risk to civilians, especially children.”
