  • Dubai crypto influencer ElonTrades flees UAE amid legal crackdown and regional unrest.
  • Authorities warn against sharing unverified content; situation remains contained.

Crypto influencer ElonTrades has reportedly left the United Arab Emirates following legal pressure and regional tensions, claiming he was targeted for documenting recent security incidents. In posts shared online, he described a tense escape across the border into Oman after a week of hiding.

Legal Trouble Over Social Media Posts

ElonTrades said his departure was triggered by a video showing a fire at the Fairmont Hotel, which gained more than 1.7 million views. He claims this put him on a high-priority list with the UAE Public Prosecutor.

"I was listed #3 on the UAE public prosecutor’s list for ‘publishing illegal content’... resulting in my X account being banned across the country," he stated.

UAE authorities have tightened rules on posting unverified footage or spreading rumors, particularly during crises. Under Article 52 of the UAE cybercrime law, sharing misleading information contrary to official sources can result in fines or imprisonment.

Rising Tensions and Personal Risk

ElonTrades detailed the impact of regional unrest on his neighborhood, reporting multiple drone explosions near his building and ongoing missile alerts. He described spending days hiding in his basement amid aerial activity.

Reports of debris hitting the 23 Marina tower and disruptions at Dubai International Airport have been confirmed. UAE officials note that air defenses have intercepted several projectiles, and authorities maintain the situation is under control.

Escape Across the Border

To avoid travel restrictions, ElonTrades took a land route to Oman before flying out. "Made our way over the border into Oman the night before last and flew out this morning," he shared. He urged peers to consider leaving if possible: "If you have the means to get out, I suggest you do so. Don’t FAFO."

The case illustrates growing tensions between social media influencers seeking viral coverage and strict UAE regulations during periods of regional instability.
