- Jordanian Armed Forces intercept 108 of 119 missiles and drones fired by Iran directly at the kingdom over the past week.
- Public Security Directorate reports 19 injuries, mostly minor, from falling debris; emergency and civil defense systems fully activated.
In a press briefing on Saturday, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) and Public Security Directorate (PSD) detailed measures taken to protect the Kingdom following Iran’s missile and drone attacks over the past week.
Military Preparedness and Air Defense
The JAF said it had placed all units on immediate alert and reinforced border deployments with additional equipment, weapons, and personnel to respond to threats.
“All formations and units are under full readiness to address any challenges to national security,” JAF spokesperson Brigadier General Mustafa Hayari said.
The JAF activated aid defense systems immediately after the outbreak of war, following United States and ‘Israeli’ airstrikes on Iran last Saturday.
“Jordan monitored its skies continuously with aircraft and radar systems and coordinated with allied armies to provide maximum air cover,” the spokesperson added.
Over the course of one week, Iran launched 119 missiles and drones at Jordan, including 60 missiles and 59 drones.
The JAF stressed that these were targeted directly at Jordanian sites, and not “passing through”.
Jordanian air defense successfully intercepted and destroyed 108 of the incoming projectiles.
The remaining 11 reached the Kingdom, though debris caused only limited material damage.
"These missiles and drones were targeting vital installations inside Jordan and were not passing through our territories," Brigadier General Hayari said.
The army also categorically denied claims made by a faction it did not name in a neighboring country, claiming that Jordan had been used as a launch point for attacks
“Jordan has never been a source of threats to its neighbors, though it will respond to any aggression against its territory,” the JAF said.
Civil Defense and Public Safety
The PSD reported that all emergency and civil defense personnel were placed on alert, emergency plans activated, and precautionary measures implemented to protect civilians.
Civil Defense teams managed 187 reports of falling debris across the Kingdom, including in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, Mafraq, Ma’an, Karak, and Badia regions.
Nineteen people were injured, mostly lightly, and all received treatment before being discharged. Damage to homes and vehicles was limited, according to spokesperson Colonel Amer Sartawi.
The PSD also emphasized public awareness, urging residents to avoid suspicious objects and follow official instructions.
Authorities monitored social media and online platforms to counter misinformation and reiterated that official channels provide the most reliable information.
“Do not approach any unknown debris. Report suspicious objects immediately via 911, and follow Civil Defense instructions,” the PSD said.
