US, 'Israel' launch full-scale attack against Iran

The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defenses successfully intercepted ballistic missiles and drones targeting the country, according to official statements.

Iran accused ‘Israel’ and the United States on Thursday of deliberately targeting civilian areas during their war on the Islamic republic, which began six days ago.

"Our people are being brutally slaughtered as the aggressors deliberately target civilian areas and any location they believe will inflict the maximum possible suffering and loss of life," said foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei in a post on X.

Iran's armed forces on Thursday denied having launched a drone attack on Azerbaijan after Baku said at least two Iranian drones hit the country, wounding two people.

"The Islamic republic of Iran... denies its armed forces launched a drone toward the Republic of Azerbaijan," the general staff of the armed forces said in a statement, according to state TV, which also blamed 'Israel'.

"Such actions by the Zionist regime, aimed at disrupting relations between Muslim countries in various ways, are not unprecedented."

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Thursday they had targeted the airport and also an air force base in the area.

"The heavy Khorramshahr-4 missiles carrying one-tonne warheads were launched at dawn today ... toward the heart of Tel Aviv, Ben Gurion airport and the base of the Israeli air force's 27th squadron located at the airport," the Guards said in a statement carried by Tasnim news agency.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from Hebrew media.

The ‘Israeli’ military said on Thursday that its campaign of strikes on Iran had already "shaken" the country's leadership, adding that it was continuing to "deepen the damage".

"The goal of the operation is to inflict severe damage on the Iranian terror regime until it removes the existential threat," military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said in a televised briefing.

Falling debris from an intercepted drone injured six people in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi on Thursday, the UAE's media office said.

"Authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi responded to an incident involving falling debris at two locations in the ICAD 2 area, following the successful interception of a drone by air defences. The incident resulted in six minor to moderate injuries to Pakistani and Nepalese nationals," Abu Dhabi media office said in a statement.

France has allowed US aircraft on some of its bases in the Middle East during the conflict opposing the United States and ‘Israel’ with Iran, the French military said Thursday.

"As part of our relations with the United States, the presence of their aircraft has been temporarily authorised on our bases" in the region, a spokeswoman for the military general staff told AFP.

"These aircraft contribute to the protection of our partners in the Gulf."

Azerbaijan said it was preparing to retaliate after two people were wounded on Thursday in Iranian drone hits on an airport and near a school.

"Azerbaijan is preparing the necessary retaliatory measures to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country and to ensure the safety of civilians and civilian infrastructure," the defence ministry said.

"These acts of attack will not go unanswered," it added.

Another round of explosions were heard over the Qatari capital Doha on Thursday, AFP journalists reported.

Doha has been targeted by waves of Iranian drones and missiles since Iran launched a sprawling retaliation campaign across the Gulf in the wake of the US and ‘Israeli’ attacks against Iran.

Iranian state television said Iran had struck a US oil tanker in the Gulf with a missile on Thursday.

The ship "was hit by a missile in the north of the Persian Gulf" and "is currently on fire", Iran's Revolutionary Guards said in a statement reported by state television.

The incident, which has not been independently confirmed, came as the Guards said they had "full control" of the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Gulf to the Indian Ocean and is a vital oil and gas transit route.

The ‘Israeli’ military said it identified a fresh round of missiles launched from Iran on Thursday, the sixth day of a war engulfing the Middle East.

"A short while ago, the IDF (military) identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat," the military said in a statement.

‘Israel's’ Defence Minister Israel Katz said his US counterpart Pete Hegseth assured him of Washington's firm backing for their joint military campaign against Iran and urged him to continue the operation "to the end".

"The Secretary of Defence said: 'Keep going to the end -- we are with you,'" Katz said, referring to an overnight conversation between the two, according to a statement issued by the ‘Israeli’ minister's office on Thursday.

Explosions echoed over the Qatari capital Doha and Bahrain's Manama on Thursday, AFP journalists reported.

The Gulf countries have been targeted by repeated waves of Iranian drone and missile attacks following in retaliation for the massive US-‘Israeli’ air campaign against Iran.

The first two repatriation flights bringing ‘Israelis’ stranded abroad by the Middle East war landed in Tel Aviv on Thursday, the transport ministry said.

The flights landed at Ben Gurion Airport on Thursday morning. Transport Minister Miri Regev said: "We are doing everything possible to bring every Israeli home safely."

A series of blasts hit Tehran and its western outskirts on Thursday, local media reported, after ‘Israel’ said it had launched another wave of strikes on the Iranian capital.

The Fars news agency reported an explosion in western Tehran, while the Shargh and Iran papers reported at least one explosion in Karaj, a neighbouring city to the west.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United States of committing an atrocity by sinking an Iranian navy ship off Sri Lanka and warned it would "bitterly regret" the precedent set.

"The US has perpetrated an atrocity at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran's shores. Frigate Dena, a guest of India's Navy carrying almost 130 sailors, was struck in international waters without warning," he posted on X.

"Mark my words: The US will come to bitterly regret precedent it has set", he added.

Footage shows what appears to be a strike on a building belonging to Iran’s state broadcaster (IRIB) in the city of Sanandaj, according to media reports.

The ‘Israeli’ military said it launched a wave of strikes on the Iranian capital Tehran on Thursday.

"The IDF (army) has just begun a large-scale wave of strikes against infrastructure of the Iranian terror regime across Tehran," a military statement said.

Iran launched several rounds of missiles at ‘Israel’ early Thursday, the ‘Israeli’ military said, triggering alerts in several areas and explosions heard in Jerusalem but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

After a lull of more than seven hours, ‘Israel's’ military issued three separate alerts warning of Iranian missile fire in under two hours.

Iran's state broadcaster IRIB also reported the launches.

Explosions were heard in Jerusalem following the third reported launch.

But ‘Israel's’ emergency services, the Magen David Adom, said it had received no reports of casualties following Thursday's early rocket fire, and the military has cleared people to leave their shelters.

On Wednesday, the military's Home Front Command said it would ease some war‑related restrictions effective midday Thursday, citing a decline in the number of missiles fired by Iran.

Iran said Thursday it had targeted headquarters of Kurdish forces in Iraqi Kurdistan, according to Iranian state media, following strikes on Kurdish regions in both Iran and Iraq.

"We targeted the headquarters of Kurdish groups opposed to the revolution in Iraqi Kurdistan with three missiles," Iran's official IRNA news agency posted on Telegram, quoting a military statement.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it has launched the 19th wave of Operation “True Promise 4,” targeting "enemy sites" in the heart of 'Israel' and U.S. bases, according to Iranian media.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Thursday that he couldn't rule out his country's military participation in the escalating war in the Middle East.

"One can never categorically rule out participation," he said alongside local counterpart Anthony Albanese in Canberra.

"We will stand by our allies," added Carney, who had said the US-Israeli strikes on Iran were "inconsistent with international law".

A tanker was hit by a "large explosion" in the waters off Kuwait, causing an oil spill, British maritime security agency UKMTO said Thursday.

"The Master of a tanker at anchor, reports witnessing and hearing a large explosion on the port side then seeing a small craft leave the vicinity" off the Gulf state's Mubarak Al-Kabeer area, the agency posted on X.

"There is oil in the water coming from a cargo tank which could have some environmental impact".

The Ministry of Interior says authorities are temporarily relocating residents near the U.S. Embassy for their safety. Alternative housing has been provided, and the public is urged to follow official channels for reliable updates.

'Israel's' military said air defences were responding to missiles launched from Iran on Thursday, the first such report in over seven hours, triggering alerts in several areas including Tel Aviv.

The military said in a statement it had "identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat".

'Israel' and the United States have made "historic gains" in the war against Iran, which began when the allies launched strikes on the Islamic republic, 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin's Netanyahu's office said Thursday.

"Israel and the United States have together made historic gains to protect our citizens and the civilized world," a spokesperson for Netanyahu, Shosh Bedrosian, said in a video message.

She also claimed the attack was needed as Iran was rebuilding its atomic bomb programme in "new underground bunkers", and because there were indications of an Iranian plans "to attack Israel and American forces in the Middle East."

The Senate on Wednesday voted down a resolution that would have restricted President Donald Trump’s military actions in Iran, as Democrats and a handful of Republicans sought to assert Congress’s constitutional role in declaring war. The House is also expected to reject a similar war powers measure.

The resolution, introduced by Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., called for removing “the United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Iran, unless explicitly authorized by a declaration of war or a specific authorization for use of military force.”

The Senate vote fell 47-53, short of the simple majority needed to advance the measure to the floor. Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was the only Democrat to join Republicans in voting no, while Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was the only Republican to vote yes alongside Democrats.

The legislation would have required congressional approval before any further attacks on Iran, forcing lawmakers to take a stand on a conflict shaping the fate of U.S. service members, countless civilians, and the broader Middle East.

'Israel's' military issued new evacuation orders for a Beirut suburb on Thursday, warning residents it was about to strike targets it said were linked to Hezbollah.

The warning posted on social media by the 'Israeli' military's Arabic language spokesperson came as hostilities between 'Israel' and the group intensified, including direct clashes in the southern Lebanese town of Khiam on Wednesday, according to Hezbollah.

According to a security source cited by Tasnim agency, there has been no infiltration of armed groups into Iran from the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

An 'Israeli' security source told Channel 13 that the 'Israeli' army plans to move into a new phase of operations, targeting Iran’s military industries.

Spain’s government firmly rejected claims by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt that it had agreed to cooperate with the United States in military operations against Iran.

Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares told Cadena SER radio: “I categorically deny any change… our position regarding the use of our bases in the Middle East, in strikes on Iran, has not changed at all.”

Spain has agreed to "cooperate" with the US military in its war on Iran, the White House press secretary says, after Madrid had refused to let American warplanes use its bases for the operation.

"It's my understanding, over the past several hours, they've agreed to cooperate with the US military," Karoline Leavitt says of Spain, without providing details on what the cooperation would entail.

An 'Israeli' official told Channel 13 Wednesday that 'Israel' misjudged Hezbollah’s participation in the ongoing war.

“We did not expect Hezbollah to join the battle with this level of strength,” the official said. “We miscalculated the power with which they entered the fight and did not anticipate the range of rockets they would launch.”

Violent explosions were heard Wednesday night in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, causing panic among residents, according to AFP.

The blasts were concentrated near Erbil International Airport, where a US military base is located as part of an international coalition.

Iraq Ministry of Electricity announced a total shutdown of the national power grid, affecting all provinces with no immediate explanation for the failure.

Authorities said technical teams are currently investigating the cause and working to gradually restore electricity by reconnecting affected lines and stations. Ali Larijani that more than 500 American soldiers have been killed, urging former President Donald Trump to reconsider his approach.

“Trump must rethink whether his slogan is truly ‘America First’ or ‘Israel First,’ after the deaths of over 500 US military personnel,” Larijani said in remarks carried by Iranian media.

The statement comes amid escalating US-Iran tensions and ongoing regional hostilities, with Iranian officials highlighting the human cost of American military actions in the region.

Danish shipping giant Maersk announced a sudden decision to suspend cargo booking operations to and from the Gulf region with immediate effect “until further notice,” citing heightened security risks.

The move comes on the fifth day of the escalating war in the Middle East, following what the company described as a comprehensive assessment of the regional security situation.

Scope of suspension

In an official statement, Maersk said the suspension applies to cargo bookings covering the following countries and ports:

• United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain.
• Sultanate of Oman: all ports except Salalah.
• Saudi Arabia: limited to the ports of Dammam and Jubail.

The company did not specify a timeline for resuming normal operations.

Oman’s navy and coast guard rescued 24 crew members from a cargo ship attacked by Iranian missiles near the Strait of Hormuz, state media reported Wednesday.

The vessel, flying the Maltese flag, was struck by two missiles believed to have been fired by Iranian forces in the strategic waterway, according to maritime security sources.

Omani rescuers provided medical care to the crew, all of whom were reported in “good health” after being evacuated safely from the damaged ship.

Shrapnel from a missile landed near the convoy of far-right politician Itamar Ben-Gvir on Route 1, close to the town of Abu Ghosh.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Hezbollah said that it launched precision drone strikes on the Haifa naval base and Ramat David air base in northern ‘Israel’.

The group described the operations as a response to ongoing 'Israeli' military actions in the region.

The incident comes as ‘Israel’ has intensified strikes and deployed ground forces into southern Lebanon following cross‑border exchanges with the Hezbollah group and amid the wider regional war involving Iran. 'Israeli' forces have ordered evacuations of villages south of the Litani River and have expanded operations along the northern front.

Spain will not act as a “vassal” to Washington, Deputy Prime Minister Maria Jesus Montero, amid rising tensions with the United States over Madrid’s refusal to let its military bases be used for operations against Iran.

“We are certainly not going to be anybody’s vassals, we won’t tolerate any threats and we’ll defend our values,” Montero told reporters.

The dispute follows warnings from US President Donald Trump that Washington may cut trade ties with Spain over the decision.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez earlier cautioned that the ongoing conflict could trigger a major international crisis.

“We’re not going to be complicit in something that’s bad for the world, nor contrary to our values and interests, simply to avoid reprisals from someone,” Sanchez said in a televised address.

Warning sirens were activated across Bahrain and Kuwait.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry urged citizens and residents to “remain calm and head to the nearest safe place”. Similarly, Kuwaiti officials warned the public to stay alert and follow official guidance for safety.

‘Israel’ was reportedly hit by a joint attack from Lebanon's Hezbollah and Iran for the third time in the past two hours, according to 'Israeli' Channel 14.

The strikes mark a rapid escalation along northern and regional fronts, with the latest incidents occurring hours after previous attacks were intercepted or responded to by 'Israeli' forces.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Monday that American and ‘Israel’ forces expect to gain “complete control of Iranian skies” within days, less than a week after the conflict began.

He described the operations as part of a broader campaign targeting Iranian military infrastructure and emphasized the role of coordinated strikes with ‘Israel’.

Hegseth also reiterated that the United States has “all tools necessary” to continue precision attacks, signaling that further military waves are planned.

NATO on Wednesday condemned Iran's "targeting" of member country Turkey after Ankara said a missile heading towards its airspace had been destroyed by alliance defence systems.

"We condemn Iran's targeting of Turkiye. NATO stands firmly with all allies, including Turkiye, as Iran continues its indiscriminate attacks across the region," NATO spokeswoman Allison Hart said, using the country's official name.

"Our deterrence and defence posture remains strong across all domains, including when it comes to air and missile defence," she added.

Turkey warned Tehran against any steps that could spread the war after a missile launched from Iran heading toward Turkish airspace was destroyed by NATO air-defence systems, a foreign ministry source said.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told his Iranian counterpart in a phone call that "any steps that could lead to the spread of conflict should be avoided", the source added.

A missile launched from Iran, heading towards Turkish airspace through Iraq and Syria, has been destroyed by NATO air defence systems, Turkish officials said on Wednesday.

"A ballistic munition launched from Iran, which was detected passing through Iraqi and Syrian airspace and heading towards Turkish airspace, was engaged in a timely manner by NATO air and missile defence assets stationed in the eastern Mediterranean and rendered inactive," the defence ministry said in a statement.

Iran announced that a state funeral for supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which had been planned for Wednesday evening in Tehran, was postponed "in anticipation of unprecedented turnout," state television reported.

"The farewell ceremony for the martyred Imam has been postponed. The new date will be announced later," Iranian television reported on Wednesday after Khamenei was killed in US-‘Israeli’ strikes over the weekend.

The United Arab Emirates and Qatar separately said Wednesday they had intercepted drone and missile barrages as Iran pressed its campaign targeting its neighbours into a fifth day.

The UAE's ministry of defence said its air defences "successfully engaged today with 3 ballistic missiles and detected 129 drones, of which 121 drones were intercepted while 8 fell on state territory".

Qatar's military said it was targeted "at dawn today, by 10 drones and 2 cruise missiles coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran," with all of the projectiles intercepted by its forces.

Iran said Wednesday it is working urgently to appoint a new Supreme Leader following the assassination of Ali Khamenei in US-‘Israeli’ airstrikes last Saturday.

Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Assembly of Experts tasked with selecting the next leader, said efforts are underway to finalize the appointment as soon as possible.

“We are doing everything we can,” Khatami said in remarks to state television. “God willing, the leader will be appointed at the earliest opportunity. We are close, but we are in a state of war.”

Iraq's top Shiite Muslim cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, denounced on Wednesday "in the strongest terms the unjust war" on Iran.

Sistani, himself born in Iran, called "on all Muslims and free people around the world to denounce" the war and "stand in solidarity with the Iranian people."

He urged "all countries, particularly Islamic nations, to make every possible effort to end it immediately and to reach a just and peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear issue."

Iran has no intention of negotiating with the United States and can continue the Middle East war for as long as needed, Mohammad Mokhber, a senior aide to the late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told state TV.

He told the broadcaster that Iran had "no trust in the Americans and we have no basis for any negotiations with them", adding that: "We can continue the war as long as we want."

The ‘Israeli’ military said its air force shot down an Iranian fighter jet over Tehran on Wednesday, the fifth day of the Middle East war sparked by joint US-‘Israeli’ strikes on the Islamic republic.

"An Israeli Air Force F-35I fighter jet ('Adir') shot down an Iranian Air Force YAK-130 fighter jet a short while ago over the skies of Tehran," a military statement said.

The Iranian judiciary said Wednesday that those who aid the country's enemies "will be dealt with decisively and severely" during the Middle East war sparked by joint US-‘Israeli’ strikes on Iran.

"Given that we are in a state of war, individuals who act in any way, in word or deed, in line with the illegitimate desires and interests of the aggressor enemy, will be dealt with decisively and severely in accordance with existing laws and regulations," judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei was quoted as saying by the judiciary's Mizan online news portal.

The US Embassy in Amman, Jordan canceled all American Citizen Services (ACS) appointments until further notice, while instructing all the diplomatic mission personnel to shelter-in-place.

The ‘Israeli’ military said it had begun a fresh wave of strikes on Tehran on Wednesday, an explosion was reported in the northeast of the Iranian capital.

"The Israeli Air Force has begun a broad scale strikes targeting Iranian terror regime targets in Tehran, details to follow," a brief army statement said.

Iranian state television confirmed a powerful explosion in northeast Tehran, without providing further details.

A cloud of smoke rose in the northeast of the city.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Wednesday he believed that ‘Israeli’-US strikes on Iran were not consistent with international law.

"It would appear, prima facie, not to be consistent or to be inconsistent with international law," Carney told a gathering at the Lowy Institute in Sydney.

Israel's Defence Minister ‘Israel’ Katz threatened on Wednesday to assassinate any Iranian leader picked to succeed supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-‘Israeli’ strikes on Tehran.

"Any leader selected by the Iranian terror regime to continue leading the plan for Israel's destruction, threatening the United States, the free world and countries in the region, and suppressing the Iranian people, will be a certain target for assassination, no matter his name or where he hides," Katz said in a post on X.

Iran will hold a three-day state funeral for supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-‘Israeli’ strikes, official news agency Irna said.

"Starting at 10:00 pm (18:30 GMT), the faithful will be able to pay a final homage to the body of the martyred guide of the nation, by visiting the Imam Khomenei grand mosque" in Tehran, Irna said, citing a statement from the Islamic Development Coordination Council.

Khamenei was 86 years old when he was killed, and will be buried in his home city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran.

Kuwait's health ministry said Wednesday an 11-year-old girl was killed after being hit by falling shrapnel following waves of Iranian attacks across the Gulf.

"Resuscitation was performed in the ambulance while the girl was being transported to the hospital, and attempts continued for nearly half an hour upon arrival at Al-Amiri Hospital. However, she passed away due to her injuries," said the ministry in a statement posted on X.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Wednesday they had launched around 40 missiles at US and ‘Israeli’ targets, on the fifth day of war in the Middle East.

"Several hours ago, the 17th wave of operation Honest Promise 4 was conducted with the launch of 40 missiles by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' aerospace forces, towards American and Zionist targets," a statement read on state TV said, without giving further details.

Sri Lanka sent ships and aircraft to rescue 30 Iranian sailors aboard the Iranian frigate Iris Dena which was sinking Wednesday just outside the island's territorial waters, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath said.

He told parliament that 30 injured sailors were being brought to a hospital in the island's south from the 180-crew frigate that was sinking from dawn.

US Secretary of State Senator Marco Rubio says Trump made a deliberate choice to strike Iran first; justifying it by suggesting that if the US did not act, there would be a higher risk of American casualties and injuries.

The ‘Israeli’ military said it struck "dozens" of Iranian security command centres on Wednesday, hitting sites across the capital Tehran.

"The Israeli Air Force... completed an additional wave of strikes targeting the Iranian terror regime's command centres throughout Tehran," including internal security and paramilitary Basij sites, a military statement said.

The US State Department said on Wednesday it had ordered non-emergency personnel from US consulates in the cities of Karachi and Lahore and their families to leave Pakistan due to security concerns.

"The Department of State ordered non-emergency US government employees and the family members of US government personnel from US Consulates Lahore and Karachi to leave Pakistan due to safety risks," the US embassy in Pakistan said in a statement.

It said there was no change to the status of its embassy in the capital Islamabad.

The US State Department has given its non-emergency personnel and their families in Cyprus permission to leave, the US embassy said Wednesday.

The department "authorized non-emergency US government employees and US government employee family members to leave Cyprus due to the safety risks."

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Wednesday they control the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route for oil and gas, and any vessels seeking to pass through the waterway risk damage from missiles or stray drones.

US President Donald Trump said it is “too late” for diplomatic talks with Iran after the country reportedly sought negotiations once intense military operations were already under way.

The partial closure that has been in effect since Monday evening has been lifted following a “comprehensive operational and security review amid current regional developments,” according to a statement.

The UN nuclear watchdog said Tuesday that a key Iranian nuclear site suffered "recent damage", a day after Iran said the underground uranium enrichment plant was attacked.

"Based on the latest available satellite imagery, IAEA can now confirm some recent damage to entrance buildings of Iran's underground Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant. No radiological consequence expected," the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a post on X.

The UN agency said on Monday there was "no indication" any nuclear installations had been hit. Iran's ambassador to the IAEA said on Monday that Tehran had informed the agency that Natanz was attacked.

Iran's army said on Tuesday its forces launched attacks on ‘Israel’ and a US military base in Qatar, as the war raged for a fourth day.

"The destructive combat drones of the army's ground, air, and naval forces... targeted the military areas of the Zionist regime in the occupied territories and the bases of American forces in Al-Udeid, Qatar," said the army in a statement carried by Shargh daily.

The ‘Israeli’ military on Tuesday said it had carried out air strikes on Iran's presidential office and the National Security Council building in Tehran as part of its ongoing campaign against the Islamic republic.

"The Israeli Air Force... struck and dismantled facilities within the leadership compound of the Iranian terrorist regime in the heart of Tehran" overnight, the military said.

"During the strike on the compound, numerous munitions were dropped on the presidential office and the building of the Supreme National Security Council," it added.

Iran warned European countries on Tuesday against joining its conflict with ‘Israel’ and the United States, after Germany, Britain and France said they could take "defensive action" to destroy Iran's missile-launching capabilities.

"It would be an act of war. Any such act against Iran would be regarded as complicity with the aggressors. It would be regarded as an act of war against Iran," foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said at a press briefing when asked about the statement.

The Lebanese army has redeployed soldiers from several recently established border positions on Tuesday following the ‘Israeli’ army's "escalation", according to a military source.

The troops "numbering in total eight to nine soldiers at each point, were redeployed to their bases because of the danger to their safety", the Lebanese military said.

The move comes after ‘Israeli’ defence minister Israel Katz said Tuesday he had authorised his military to "take control of additional strategic positions in Lebanon".

A series of overhead explosions were heard from Jerusalem on Tuesday, after the ‘Israeli’ military said it had detected fresh missiles launched from Iran.

"The IDF has detected that a short time ago missiles were launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defence systems are operating to intercept the threat," the military said.

Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted a United States air base in Bahrain, the Islamic Republic’s elite force said in a statement carried on Tuesday by the official IRNA news agency.

“The IRGC announced that... its naval forces carried out a large-scale drone and missile attack at dawn on the US air base in the Sheikh Isa area of Bahrain,” IRNA posted on Telegram.

The force said in its statement that 20 drones and three missiles were launched, “destroying the base’s main command headquarters,” without providing evidence.

Tehran’s latest claimed attack came after its military launched salvos across the Gulf region in retaliation for US and ‘Israeli’ strikes on Iran that began on Saturday.

China called on all sides in the Middle East war to maintain safety in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route for oil and gas, and vowed measures to ensure its energy security.

Nearly a quarter of the world's seaborne oil supplies pass through the strait, as well as a significant amount of cargo.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards declared it closed on Saturday, prompting several international shipping groups to halt passage through the waterway.

"China urges all parties to immediately cease military operations, avoid further escalation of tensions, maintain the safety of shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, and prevent a greater impact on the global economy," foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told a regular news conference on Tuesday.

"Energy security is of great importance to the global economy... China will take necessary measures to ensure its energy security," she said.

China is the main buyer of Iranian oil, most of which passes through the strait.

‘Israel's’ Defence Minister Israel Katz said Tuesday he told the military to take control of more positions in Lebanon after an attack from Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I have authorized the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to advance and take control of additional strategic positions in Lebanon in order to prevent attacks on Israeli border communities," Katz said in a statement.

The ‘Israeli’ military said in a statement it had deployed troops to several locations in southern Lebanon in what it described in a statement as a "forward defence" measure along the border.

"We have positioned soldiers on the border area in additional points to defend our civilians, to prevent Hezbollah from attacking them," military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani told journalists in a separate briefing.

"This is not a ground operation. This is a tactical measure... to ensure the safety of our people," he added.

Hezbollah joined Iran with an attack on ‘Israel’ after Israel and the United States went to war against the Islamic republic, and killed their supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Drones targeted an Omani port on Tuesday, hitting a fuel tank, state media said, as Iran presses its retaliation campaign on the Gulf in response to US and Israeli strikes.

"A security source reported that fuel tanks at the commercial port of Duqm were targeted by a number of drones, one of which hit a fuel tank. The resulting damage was contained without any human casualties," the Oman News Agency said in statement.

US military officials said Monday they destroyed command posts of Iran's Revolutionary Guards as well as Iranian air defense and missile launch sites, in the Middle Eastern war that broke out over the weekend.

"US forces have destroyed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities, Iranian air defense capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields during sustained operations," US Central Command (CENTCOM) wrote in an X post.

Lebanese group Hezbollah on Tuesday said it targeted three ‘Israeli’ military bases in response to the strikes on the group's strongholds in Lebanon, including the south Beirut suburbs.

"In response to the criminal Israeli aggression on dozens of Lebanese cities and towns", Hezbollah fighters targeted with drones the Ramat David air base and the Meron base in northern ‘Israel’ with drone strikes, the Iran-backed group said in multiple statements.

They added that they also targeted a base in the occupied Golan Heights with a rocket barrage.

Hundreds of ‘Israelis’ celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim in an underground shelter, despite all public gatherings being banned by military order.

The United States embassy in Riyadh confirmed an attack and urged people to stay away, saying it would be closed on Tuesday.

"Avoid the embassy until further notice due to an attack on the facility," a statement said, urging American citizens to "shelter in place".

The US embassy in Kuwait on Tuesday said it was closed until further notice, a day after smoke was rising from the mission following Iranian attacks on the country.

"Due to ongoing regional tensions, the US Embassy in Kuwait will be closed until further notice. We have cancelled all regular and emergency consular appointments," the embassy said in a statement on X.

The US State Department said Tuesday it has ordered non-emergency personnel and their families to leave Bahrain and Jordan, as well as announcing it had ordered staff in Iraq to leave a day earlier, as Iran retaliates to US-‘Israeli’ strikes.

The department, in a post on X, said it had updated travel advisories for Bahrain and Jordan "to reflect the ordered departure of non-emergency US government personnel and family members of government personnel."

In an updated Iraq travel advisory, the department said it had on Monday "ordered non-emergency US government employees to leave Iraq due to security concerns."

The United States Department of State has elevated its travel advisory for Jordan to Level 3, advising American citizens to "Reconsider Travel" due to heightened risks stemming from regional tensions.

The advisory comes amid escalating hostilities between the US and Iran, which began on February 28, prompting widespread security alerts across the Middle East.

The primary reasons for the advisory include what the statement claims is the persistent threat of “terrorism” and potential armed conflict.

Additionally, the advisory highlights risks from drone and missile attacks originating from Iran, which have led to significant disruptions in commercial aviation.

“Jordan is relatively stable but due to high tensions in the region, the security environment remains complex and can change quickly,” the statement continued.

In response to these threats, the Department of State ordered the departure of non-emergency US government personnel and their family members from Jordan, citing safety risks.

The US Embassy in Amman has issued multiple security alerts, including reports of missiles, drones, or rockets in Jordanian airspace.

A shelter-in-place directive was also implemented for embassy personnel on February 28 and March 2.

The advisory designates certain areas within Jordan as Level 4: "Do Not Travel," including regions near the borders with Syria and Iraq, such as Mansheyat al Ghayyath and Ruwayshid, due to what the statement says is terrorism and unrest.

Syrian refugee camps, Rusayfah city, and the Baqa’a neighborhood are also off-limits for US government personnel.

Other zones, like Ma’an city and Zarqa city, fall under Level 3, where travel is restricted to daylight hours and major highways for official purposes.

This update aligns with broader US advisories for the Middle East, where several countries, including Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain, have seen their warnings raised to Level 3 amid the US-Iran conflict.

The ‘Israeli’ military issued new evacuation orders for dozens of locations in Lebanon on Tuesday, including a warning for residents in two southern Beirut neighbourhoods to stay away from several buildings ahead of imminent military action.

Volunteers delivered food and water to displaced residents across Lebanon, where around 6,000 families have been forced to leave their homes due to the 'Israeli' offensive, bringing the total registered displaced to 28,586.

While 168 reception centers have been opened, only 92 still have available capacity, highlighting potential logistical challenges if displacement continues.

President Donald Trump said the United States was "not where we want to be" in terms of its stockpiles of the highest end weapons, as American forces deploy large quantities of munitions against Iran.

"At the highest end, we have a good supply, but are not where we want to be," he wrote on Truth Social, adding the US has sufficient "medium and upper medium grade" weapons.

"Wars can be fought 'forever,' and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries finest arms!)," he added, referring to the "medium and upper medium grade" weapons.

The United States attacked Iran only after learning that ally 'Israel' was going to strike and fearing Tehran would retaliate against US forces, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Monday.

"We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn't preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties," Rubio told reporters.

Rubio, who was preparing to brief key US lawmakers, said that Iran had told field commanders to respond automatically against US forces if there was an attack.

"If we stood and waited for that attack to come first before we hit them, we would suffer much higher casualties. And so the president made the very wise decision" to hit alongside 'Israel', Rubio said.

Asked if the United States faced an imminent threat from Iran, a key threshold in the United States as Congress constitutionally has the power to declare war, Rubio again pointed to the 'Israeli' plans.

"There absolutely was an imminent threat, and the imminent threat was that we knew that if Iran was attacked, and we believed they would be attacked, that they would immediately come after us," Rubio said.

The Kuwaiti defence ministry said earlier that several US warplanes crashed, but with no fatalities among the crews.

The statement comes after footage emerged on social media of a US fighter jet, believed to be an F-15E Strike Eagle, crashing in Kuwait, amid the joint US-‘Israeli’ operation against Iran.

The footage showed the pilot safely ejecting before the jet hit the ground. Some reports said the incident was due to “friendly fire”.

The statement added that Kuwaiti authorities are in “direct coordination” with the United States army regarding the incident.

Iran's army said Monday it targeted US Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait as well as vessels in the Indian ocean after the killing of the Islamic republic's supreme leader in US and 'Israeli' strikes.

French government spokesperson Maud Bregeon said Sunday that France “can only be satisfied” the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, describing him as a “bloodthirsty dictator.”

Speaking to France's RTL, Bregeon said Khamenei had oppressed his people and was responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians in Iran and across the region. “We can therefore only be satisfied with his demise,” she said, while acknowledging that such an outcome is “not framed by law.”

Khamenei, 86, was killed Saturday in joint US and 'Israeli' strikes targeting his residence as part of 'Operation Epic Fury'. Iranian authorities confirmed his death hours after the attack.

Bregeon added that “it now belongs to the Iranian people to choose their destiny.”

We advise US citizens in Bahrain that hotels might be a target for future attacks, and encourage US citizens to avoid hotels in Manama," the embassy said in a post on X.

Earlier, an AFP correspondent saw damage at the hotel after hearing explosions. On Saturday in Manama, the Iranian attacks saw drones and shrapnel slam into residential buildings, with video on social media showing smoke and fire from high-rises.

The U.S. Embassy – Amman has instructed all mission personnel to continue sheltering in place and to avoid the embassy compound, warning it may be targeted.

In a security alert issued March 1, 2026, the embassy urged all American citizens in Jordan to exercise heightened vigilance and avoid the embassy facility. The advisory comes amid rising regional tensions.

US nationals were advised to remain inside a secure location, stock essential supplies including food, water, and medication, and avoid demonstrations. The embassy also called on citizens to monitor local media, keep phones charged, and maintain communication with family members.

In cases of immediate danger, individuals were directed to contact Jordanian police by dialing 911.

At least eight people were killed during pro-Iran protests at the United States consulate in the Pakistan megacity of Karachi on Sunday, a rescue service spokesman said.

"We have moved at least eight dead bodies to Karachi's civil hospitals, while 20 others were injured in the consulate incident," said Muhammad Amin, a spokesman for the Edhi Foundation rescue service, adding most had bullet wounds.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader since 1989 and sworn enemy of the West, was killed in the opening salvo of a massive US and 'Israeli' attack that extended into a second day Sunday.

Iran's armed forces chief of staff Abdolrahim Mousavi was killed along with other senior generals in US and ‘Israeli’ strikes on the country, state TV reported on Sunday.

State TV listed the name of Mousavi along with defence minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, Revolutionary Guards chief Mohammad Pakpour, and head of the defence council Ali Shamkhani as among those killed during Saturday's strikes.

It said they were killed "during a Defence Council meeting", adding that other names will be announced later.

Iran's security chief Ali Larijani said the transition process following the killing of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will begin from Sunday.

"An interim leadership council will soon be formed. The president, the head of the judiciary and a jurist from the Guardian Council will assume responsibility until the election of the next leader," said Larijani, the head of Iran's top security body, the Supreme National Security Council, who was an adviser to Khamenei.

"This council will be established as soon as possible. We are working to form it as early as today," he said in an interview broadcast by state TV.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and two top other officials will lead Iran in the transitional period following the death of supreme leader Ali Khamenei, state television reported on Sunday.

Judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei and another official from the country's legal council will be part of the trio overseeing the transition, according to state television which cited Mohammad Mokhber, one of Khamenei's advisors.

At least 148 people has been killed and 95 others injured in the US-'Israeli' attack on an elementary girls’ school in southern Iran’s Minab city.

Hundreds of Iraqis attempted early Sunday to storm Baghdad's fortified Green Zone, where the US embassy is located, after the death of Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, a security source told AFP.

President Donald Trump told CBS News on Saturday evening that he believes the U.S. and 'Israeli' attacks that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been “effective” and could pave the way for a diplomatic solution.

“Much easier now than it was a day ago, obviously,” Trump said in a phone interview when asked about prospects for diplomacy. “Because they are getting beat up badly.”

Trump described Saturday’s strikes as “a great day for this country, a great day for the world,” expressing confidence in the results so far. Sources told CBS News that roughly 40 Iranian officials were killed in the operation.

The president noted that “there are some good candidates” to lead Iran following Khamenei’s death but did not elaborate.

Trump said he continues to closely monitor Iran’s response to the strikes, noting that the country has launched ballistic missiles at 'Israel' and attacks on U.S. bases elsewhere in the Middle East.

“It’s what we expected,” he said of the retaliatory response, adding that Iran’s attacks have been less severe than anticipated. “We thought it’d be double. Thus far, it’s been less than we thought,” Trump said, while noting the situation remains fluid.

U.S. Central Command reported no American casualties from the operations, while in 'Israel', one person was killed and dozens were injured in retaliatory strikes.

On Capitol Hill, Republicans have largely expressed support for the president, while some Democratic leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have called on Trump to provide “Congress and the American people with critical details about the scope and immediacy of the threat.”

When asked about working with Congress on Iran-related matters going forward, Trump said, “I always want to work with Congress. Always. I’ve always worked with Congress.”

Toward the end of the interview, Trump reiterated that the strikes were successful and declined to label the operations as a “war” with Iran, emphasizing that his focus remains on eliminating threats to the United States.

A new series of powerful blasts were heard Sunday in Tehran, AFP journalists in Iran reported.

At least one person was killed and seven wounded during an "incident" at Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport, officials said Sunday after Iranian strikes targeting the UAE and Gulf states.

"Abu Dhabi Airports confirmed an incident at Zayed International Airport that resulted in one death of an Asian national and seven injuries," the body that manages the airport said in a statement posted on X.

The Iranian Red Crescent said the death toll from a strike on Saturday that hit a school in the country's south has risen to 108, after the US and ‘Israel’ launched a wave of attacks on the Islamic republic.

"The number of student martyrs at Minab School has reached 108, and relief and debris removal operations are still ongoing," a spokesperson for the organisation said.

A CENTCOM spokesperson was quoted by The New York Times as saying: "We are aware of reports concerning civilian harm resulting from ongoing military operations. We take these reports seriously and are looking into them.

"The protection of civilians is of utmost importance, and we will continue to take all precautions available to minimise the risk of unintended harm."

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said "this barbaric act is another black page in the record of countless crimes committed by the aggressors".

‘Israel’ and the US launched a wave of strikes against their longtime foe on Saturday morning.

The Iranian Red Crescent said on Saturday evening that at least 201 people had been killed and 747 injured in the attacks.

Iraq’s Joint Operations Command reported that three people were injured Sunday after shrapnel from two missiles fell in Basra province.

Dubai authorities said debris from an intercepted drone caused a fire at the city's famed luxury hotel the Burj Al Arab, according to a statement Sunday, following a wave of Iranian strikes launched at Gulf states.

"Authorities confirm that a drone was intercepted and debris caused a minor fire on the Burj Al Arab's outer facade," the Dubai Media Office wrote on its X account.

"Civil Defence teams responded immediately and brought the incident under control. No injuries have been reported."

UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air and missile defense forces have successfully intercepted 132 of 137 Iranian ballistic missiles and 195 of 209 drones targeting the country since the start of the attack.

Five missiles fell into the sea, and 14 drones hit UAE territory or waters, causing minor damage. The ministry condemned the attacks as a serious escalation, emphasizing the threat to civilian safety and national stability.

Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last shah, issued a statement on Twitter on Saturday claiming that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has “been erased from the face of history,” and declaring the Islamic Republic effectively over.

In the post, Pahlavi called Khamenei “the bloodthirsty despot of our time” and accused him of murdering tens of thousands of Iranians. He asserted that any attempt by the regime to appoint a successor would be “doomed to fail,” claiming that a new leader would lack both legitimacy and longevity.

Addressing Iran’s military, law enforcement, and security forces, Pahlavi urged them not to defend the regime and to instead support a “stable transition to a free and prosperous future.” He described Khamenei’s death as a potential balm for families affected by decades of repression, while calling on the Iranian people to prepare for “a widespread and decisive presence in the streets” to achieve national victory and freedom.

Pahlavi concluded the post with a call for unity and perseverance, ending with “Long live Iran.”

The post comes amid unverified reports circulating on social media about Khamenei’s death. Iranian state media has not confirmed any developments regarding the Supreme Leader, and the Iranian government has yet to respond to Pahlavi’s message.

Pahlavi, a prominent critic of the Islamic Republic and son of the late Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, has long advocated for a return to secular democracy in Iran and remains a symbolic figure for opposition groups both inside and outside the country.

‘Israel's’ emergency service Magen David Adom said Saturday that one person was in serious condition in the Tel Aviv area after Iran fired a barrage of missiles toward ‘Israel’.

Paramedics were providing medical treatment to "a male approximately 40 years old in serious condition with shrapnel injuries," MDA said in a statement.

At least eight people were reported injured in Tel Aviv on Saturday night after a new round of missiles launched from Iran struck the city, 'Israeli' media reported.

Eight people were injured, with one of them in critical condition, in Iranian missile and drone attacks on Qatar on Saturday which also damaged a radar system at the Al Udeid military base near Doha.

"Qatar was targeted by 44 missiles and eight drones... with eight injured including one in critical condition," a diplomat told AFP on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive details.

Most of the attacks were intercepted but a long-range radar system was hit in the salvos and damaged, the diplomat added.

AFP journalists heard a series of blasts in Jerusalem, central 'Israel' and Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, on Saturday night, with a journalist in Tel Aviv reporting a large explosion.

The blasts followed sirens, after the military said it had identified a new round of missiles launched from Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump held phone calls earlier Saturday with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and NATO, the White House said, as tensions escalated across the Gulf.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a post on X that Trump spoke with regional partners and NATO officials following a series of Iranian strikes targeting several Gulf nations.

Mohammad Pakpour - Commander of the IRGC since the June war. Pakour commanded the main military force of Iran and was responsible for activating the fire arrays against ‘Israel’, as well as supporting and directing groups allied to Iran.

Saleh Asadi - Head of the Intelligence Directorate of the Khatam al-Anbiya emergency command, and a senior Intelligence Officer of the Supreme Command of the Iranian Forces.

Mohammad Shirazi - Head of the Military Bureau of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei since 1989. In his role, Shirazi was in charge of the relations between the senior commanders of the Iranian Armed Forces and the Supreme Leader.

Aziz Nasirzadeh - Defense Minister of Iran. He served in several key roles, including Commander of the Iranian Air Force and Deputy Commander of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. A senior military official from the Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed that sounds reported in the skies over several parts of the country are from Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft conducting routine flights.

The official said these operations are part of regular aerial patrols and reconnaissance missions to ensure the safety of Jordanian airspace and prevent any unauthorized or suspicious activity.

US media outlets report that part of the recent strikes by the 'Israel' military originated over the Mediterranean Sea, using Syrian airspace as a corridor to reach targets deep inside Iran.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is "safe and sound", state media reported on Saturday, following US and 'Israeli' strikes on the Islamic republic.

"President Masoud Pezeshkian is safe and sound and has no problems," the IRNA news agency reported, alongside the Mehr and ISNA agencies.

President of the United States Donald Trump announced the launch of extensive military operations against Iran, issuing orders to target and destroy the country’s military infrastructure. He declared that the era of “tolerance” toward Tehran is over.

Trump said U.S. forces would eliminate Iran’s missile industry entirely, describing it as a complete eradication of the program. He also confirmed that the Iranian naval fleet would be targeted to neutralize any maritime threats, particularly in light of Tehran’s attempts to develop long-range missiles capable of reaching U.S. territory.

Labeling Iran as the 'world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism', Trump condemned decades of anti-American activity since 1979, citing historical attacks such as the 1983 Beirut Marine barracks bombing. The US embassies in Qatar and Bahrain told their staff to seek shelter Saturday and advised US citizens to do the same after the United States and 'Israel' launched strikes on Iran.

The embassies said in two separate statements they were "implementing a shelter-in-place for all personnel. We recommend all Americans do the same until further notice," and urged US citizens to "find a secure location within your residence or another safe building".
