Turkish Airlines issued a statement denying canceling flights from Turkey to Iran, after news reports said that the airline and two Iranian carriers canceled flights on Friday evening from Istanbul to Tehran, according to the Istanbul Airport website cited by AFP.
"Claims circulating on social media regarding flight cancellations related to Iran do not reflect the truth. We do not have any flight cancellations. Our flights operating during daytime conditions are continuing as planned," Yahya Ustun, the company’s senior vice president for communications, said on X.
The original report said that four flights scheduled for Saturday were canceled, including two operated by Turkish Airlines, while six others remained scheduled at the time.
The news comes amid US threats of potential strikes on Iran, after an American military buildup in the region, considered the biggest since the 2003 invasion of Iraq,
