Hamas comments on 'Israeli' attacks after Board of Peace creation

Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for Hamas, said Thursday that the continued killing from ongoing 'Israeli' strikes across the Gaza Strip reflects a blatant disregard by the occupation for mediators’ efforts and the role of the Board of Peace.

“The occupation continues its campaign of extermination and destruction against the Palestinian people,” Qassem added, noting that while the methods may change, the intent remains unchanged. He emphasized that the assurances of ceasefire from guarantor states lack any real effect on the ground.

Rising casualties and infrastructure devastation

Since the ceasefire took effect, repeated 'Israeli' violations have resulted in the deaths of 650 Palestinians, including 198 children and 85 women, and left 1,662 others injured.

Since the start of the October 7, 2023 war, 'Israeli' forces have killed over 72,000 citizens and injured approximately 172,000, with more than 8,000 reported missing. About 90 percent of civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, with the United Nations estimating reconstruction costs at roughly $70 billion.
