  • US President Trump dismissed reports that General Dan Caine warned against an extended campaign in Iran, asserting on Truth Social that the General believes such a conflict would be "easily won" if a military decision is reached.
  • Trump emphasized that he holds the final authority on military action, stating that while he prefers a diplomatic deal, failure to reach one would result in a "very bad day" for Iran.

US President Donald Trump denied stories from what called “Fake News Media” that top US General Daniel Cain has warned against a potential extended military campaign against Iran.

Trump’s denial comes after a report by The Wall Street Journal that the Pentagon is raising concerns to Trump that an extended war against Iran may carry risks including casualties to the US and allies, depleted air defenses and an overtaxed force.

The warnings were largely voiced by General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US military, according to the WSJ.

“The story does not attribute this vast wealth of knowledge to anyone, and is 100% incorrect,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

“General Caine, like all of us, would like not to see War but, if a decision is made on going against Iran at a Military level, it is his opinion that it will be something easily won,” he added.

“I am the one that makes the decision,” Trump said on the decision to strike Iran.

“I would rather have a Deal than not but, if we don’t make a Deal, it will be a very bad day for that Country and, very sadly, its people, because they are great and wonderful, and something like this should never have happened to them.”
