Jordan foils drone drug smuggling attempt

The Jordan Armed Forces on Monday thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics using a drone along the western front of the Jordanian Southern Command, the military said.
In a statement, the Jordan Armed Forces said border guards detected the drone within the zone’s area of responsibility. Rules of engagement were applied, and the aircraft was brought down inside Jordanian territory.
The operation was carried out in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were transferred to the relevant authorities for further investigation, the statement added.
The military reiterated its commitment to using all capabilities to prevent infiltration and smuggling attempts and to safeguard the Kingdom’s borders.
