Her Majesty Queen Rania highlighted the value of humility as a key leadership quality during her keynote address at the 10th annual ET NOW Global Business Summit in New Delhi on Friday, urging leaders to prioritize human dignity, inclusivity, and thoughtful decision-making amid rapid global change.

Humility as a leadership asset

Queen Rania described humility not as hesitation or self-doubt, but as honesty about limitations that allows leaders to build systems that can adapt, scale, and include those often left out.

“When you accept that you don’t know everything, you design systems that reach more people without breaking,” she said, noting that overconfidence and arrogance can obscure risks and reduce resilience.

She emphasized that humility encourages reflection, testing assumptions, and considering alternative perspectives, qualities essential in today’s interconnected world.

Inclusion of marginalized voices

Her Majesty also stressed the importance of incorporating perspectives from the Global South, warning that global decisions often affect the most vulnerable populations first.

“Too often, global conversations are shaped by the loudest voices,” she said. “We need all our voices. All our perspectives. Not just in business and technology, but in the way we pursue our destiny as fellow human beings.”

Facing uncertainty with wisdom

Addressing the current global climate, Queen Rania observed a mood of “anticipation paired with unease,” explaining that rapid advances, particularly in technology like AI, often outpace careful consideration.

“Leaders must guide progress responsibly, not simply rush ahead,” she said. “This approach is not about who gets there first, but how many can get there together. It is about choosing what is responsible over what is merely possible.”

She cited lessons from Jordan’s experience in navigating regional crises, emphasizing that the kingdom’s strength lies not in its size, but in its steadfast values and commitment to human dignity.

“That is the Jordan I am proud to call home. A reliable, honest partner in a complicated world,” Queen Rania said.

The summit, organized by The Times Group under the theme “A Decade of Disruption, A Century of Change,” brought together political leaders, business figures, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and futurists. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in the event.

Queen Rania’s address reinforced the importance of leadership rooted in humility, inclusivity, and reflection as nations navigate rapid technological, political, and social changes.
