'Israel' announced Wednesday that it killed Palestinian Ahmad Kamal Hasan (also known as Sweilem), 35, in an airstrike on a residential apartment in the Al-Nasr neighborhood of Gaza City. The army described Hasan as the “sniper unit leader” of the Beit Hanoun battalion in 'Hamas' and blamed him for operations that killed seven 'Israeli' soldiers in three separate attacks.

The strike also killed two others, including a child, effectively erasing Hasan’s family. Palestinian sources said he joined his wife Iman and their three daughters, Sham (5), Shahd (3), and Iman (1), who were killed in a previous 'Israeli' strike in May 2025.
Operations blamed on Hasan
According to 'Israel', Hasan oversaw:
- July 7, 2025: Sniping attack north of Gaza killed five 'Israeli' soldiers: Assistant Benjamin Assoulin, Sergeant First Class
- Noam Aharon Mesghadian, Sergeant First Class Meir Shimon Amar, Sergeant Moshe Nesim Frish, and Sergeant First
- Moshe Shmuel. Several others were wounded.
- April 19, 2025: Operation killed Chief Assistant Ghaleb Suleiman Nassar and injured two officers and a military medic.
- April 24, 2025: Attack killed Assistant First (Reserve) Asaf Kafri, wounding two soldiers.
The army claimed Hasan was recently planning further attacks against 'Israeli' forces. 'Hamas' has not immediately commented.
Beit Hanoun, in northern Gaza, witnessed repeated clashes during the war, with 'Israeli' campaigns facing resistance from Palestinian factions despite blockade and destruction. The town has been targeted in multiple 'Israeli' operations, including previous alleged assassinations of 'Hamas' commanders, some of which were later proven inaccurate.
Daily 'Israeli' strikes and demolitions continue in Beit Hanoun and other Gaza areas, which 'Hamas' and other Palestinian factions view as violations of the ceasefire. Since the ceasefire on October 10, 2025, over 591 Palestinians have been killed and 1,578 injured, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
