Users of social media platform X, formerly Twitter, reported a widespread technical outage on Thursday that disrupted key services, including photo and video uploads and the loading of home feeds.
Users said timelines failed to refresh, error messages appeared, and media attached to posts did not display. Some also reported being unable to publish new content.
Data from outage-tracking website Downdetector showed a sharp rise in complaints across multiple regions, suggesting the disruption was widespread.
The most common issues included blank feeds, failed media loading, and posting interruptions, with some users describing the app as slow or unresponsive.
Part of a pattern
The latest disruption follows a series of recent technical issues on the platform. X experienced a similar outage on February 1, 2026, affecting thousands of users in the United States and other areas, who reported being unable to access their timelines.
A major global outage was also recorded in mid-January, raising questions about the stability of the platform’s servers.
“A general issue”
Experts suggest the current problem is likely a general server-side issue rather than one related to individual accounts or internet connections. Based on previous incidents, services are expected to be restored gradually over the coming hours.
X has not yet issued an official statement on the cause of the outage.
