  • Stranded Palestinians continue returning to Gaza through Rafah, while medical evacuations proceed.

The second group of Palestinian citizens returning to the Gaza Strip arrived at the Rafah land crossing from the Egyptian side on Tuesday morning, ahead of their entry into the territory, a correspondent for Roya TV reported.

The move follows the official announcement that the crossing would reopen for the movement of individuals and humanitarian cases, after a successful “trial operation day” on Sunday tested logistical and security procedures to ensure smooth transit between the two sides.

Ongoing medical evacuations

The return of stranded Palestinians coincides with continuing field medical efforts that began on Monday. Medical teams have started transferring the first group of injured and sick patients from Gaza to Egypt for treatment.

Ambulances are operating between handover points under close coordination with the Red Crescent Society and international organizations, addressing long lists of cases requiring urgent surgical interventions beyond the capacity of local hospitals, which face severe resource shortages.

Controlled crossings amid high demand

Despite this partial relief, movement through the crossing remains subject to strict security and organizational restrictions. Daily passenger numbers are limited, including foreign nationals and individuals with special clearances.

Field teams are working to expedite the verification of lists to ensure patients reach their treatment destinations as quickly as possible, while maintaining procedures designed to prevent congestion and ensure safe transit.
