US President Donald Trump said Friday he “hopefully” won’t have to use military force against Iran.
"I built the military in my first term, and now we have a group headed out to a place called Iran and hopefully we won't have to use it,” Trump said, referring to the US warships sent to the Middle East.
Trump added that he had “conversations” with Iran in the last few days, and is planning to have more.
“I have had, and I am planning on it,” he said, in response to a question from a reporter asking: “Have you had any conversations with Iran in the last few days, and are you planning on it?”
“We have a lot of very big, powerful ships sailing to Iran right now. It would be great if we didn’t have to use them,” Trump continues.
On the talks with Iran, Trump said the message he sent to the Iranians was “no nuclear” and “stop killing protestors”.
“They are killing them by the thousands…They are going to have to do something.”
