The Azerbaijani State Security Service (SSS) said in a statement that the three men, identified by Azerbaijani authorities, had conspired with members of Daesh, obtained weapons, and intended to carry out an attack on a foreign embassy before being apprehended by security forces.

The statement did not specify which embassy was targeted.

The arrests coincided with a visit to Baku by 'Israeli' Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, though Azerbaijani authorities did not disclose whether the timing was linked to the planned attack.

Authorities confirmed that the plot was thwarted before any violence occurred, with all three suspects, who are local residents, taken into custody. The SSS did not provide details about the exact timing of the planned attack.
