- Hadid has long used her platform to spotlight Palestinian struggles, describing her advocacy as a personal commitment to telling stories often ignored by mainstream media.
Alana Hadid, sister of supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, has signed on as an executive producer for the upcoming feature-length documentary Seeds for Liberation, marking her first film project since leaving Watermelon Pictures late last year, according to IMDb.
The documentary is directed by award-winning filmmaker Matthew Solomon, known for Reimagining Safety. The project represents Hadid’s return to filmmaking after co-founding Watermelon Pictures with Badie Ali and Hamza Ali.
Focus on Palestine and digital storytelling
Seeds for Liberation explores Palestinian resistance through interviews with historians, activists, journalists, and other experts. The film examines how social media has revealed daily life in Gaza and the West Bank, challenging dominant Western narratives and amplifying Palestinian voices.
The documentary also addresses the impact of Palestine’s 77-year occupation by ‘Israeli’ forces and the role of digital platforms in mobilizing global solidarity and justice movements.
Production details and premiere
The film was shot during the spring and summer of 2025 using two iPhone 16 devices and features interviews with 20 prominent figures.
Hadid will also moderate a panel discussion at the film’s world premiere, scheduled for January 17 in Los Angeles.
