• Trump mixes Christmas greetings with partisan attack, calling opposition “radical left scum”

On Christmas Eve, U.S. President Donald Trump seized on the holiday to launch a sharp political attack, branding his opposition as “radical left scum” in a widely shared message that mixed festive greetings with partisan critique. 

From his Mar‑a‑Lago estate in Florida, Trump participated in the annual NORAD Santa tracker phone calls with children, a tradition in which he and First Lady Melania Trump answered calls from youngsters tracking Santa’s progress around the globe. While much of the interaction was light‑hearted, Trump later turned to social media with a polarizing post. 

In his Truth Social post, Trump wrote: “Merry Christmas to all, including the Radical Left Scum that is doing everything possible to destroy our Country, but are failing badly.” He praised what he described as achievements of his administration, including strong economic growth, a robust stock market, lower crime, and tightened immigration policies, and used the holiday message to underscore his political standing. 

Trump’s remarks drew immediate attention as an example of how deeply partisan rhetoric has entered even ceremonial holiday messages. While he also sent greetings to American troops stationed overseas and took part in cherished seasonal traditions, the explicit attack on his political adversaries stood out in a post that mixed celebration with combative politics.
